I had never even been aware of Saaremaa, but this place, with its crumbly cliffs and marshes and forests, had once been a great centre of trading and raiding during the so-called Viking Age of the eighth-to-eleventh centuries. I went past it on a cruise ship, before spending the day in the Estonian capital of Tallinn, and it really seized my imagination.

Or more precisely Saaremaa, the largest island within the borders of the modern Baltic state. I’ve been an enthusiastic temporary patriot for so, so many long-vanished political entities, thanks to this weird game that lets me roleplay as holiday destinations. I spent a week in Ukraine in 2013, which acted as a gateway drug to the Kievan Rus, the Golden Horde and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. What I will do, however, is open palm slam good ol’ CK2 into the VHS slot on my computer, and play the shit out of whatever bit of history I’m intellectually horny for.Īny trip to Germany will inevitably get me thinking about the Hanseatic League or messed up crusader states, while a long weekend in Prague once got me in way too deep with the Holy Roman Empire. I’ll go to a place I’ve not really thought about much, then get well into its history and, because my curiosity writes cheques my attention span can’t cash, I’ll fail to read up on it at all. I just want it so that the Kingdom of England retains its own CoA (because the king of England rules just in England) and my imperial CoA (based on the English) gets changed. One of the games I return to regularly is Crusader Kings 2, and usually, what pokes me back into its torrid embrace is a trip abroad. I am able to edit save game files, as well as edit TGA images, I already created some images of the posible CoA. Either it should be entirely custom (something reflecting my dynasty), or composed of CoAs of my vassal kingdoms (similar to the real life Empire of Spain or Kingdom of England during their claims on French throne). Now, I would like my imperial CoA to reflect that the empire is more than just England.

The title of the King of England would pass on my heir (like Prince of Wales title in real life does).

of Sweden, Brittany and England with England as my primary (I wanted England as primary - personal reasons - I just love England) but I resided mostly in Brittany since it has only one de jure duchy vassal - duchy of Brittany with 6 counties and thus is good cash source and not puts strain on my vassal limit. I did not have enough provinces in any de jure empire to create it, far from it, but I managed to have enough holdings and 8000 prestige to create custom empire, and I did so. I started in 769 as a Viking and essentially I managed to historically recreate the kingdom of England - I conquered Brittany (-> got Norman culture), then southern England (-> English culture). I shall explain it on the situation I am in: I know it can be changed by changing the base title CoA, but in my case I don't want to do that as my custom empire encompasses much more than just the base title and I don't see why my empire should be represented by that kingdom's CoA. Hi, I'd like to ask if there is a way to have custom (or simply separate) CoA for your custom created realm.
